Artificial Intelligence Boon or Bane?

A.I. is a developing theme across many markets across the globe, with abilities to mimic human-like behavior and substitute human interactions in the digital domain. However it is becoming an increasingly worrying trend that A.I. is making people more dull, our over-reliance on Artificial Intelligence has created a constant dependency on its functions to help us in our daily decision making. This leaves less room for critical thought and more reliance on algorithms or pre-defined attributes or elements that guides our decision making process. Although machine-learning platforms offers to cover these limitations, it is evident that Artificial Intelligence and its over-dependency increases work brain fog and reduces human performance. The lack of the human-element in Artificial Intelligence makes autonomous decision making very contrived and restrictive. Unless this frontier of Artificial Intelligence thinking can be resolved through better machine learning algorithms or improved human touch, the limitations of A.I. applications would only mean that it can be applied for certain fields of work, such as number crunching or data sorting tasks. A.I. is therefore less likely to replace human input in the near-term in fields where human interaction is critical to the function of the work, but more likely applied in fields that require data analytics and prediction models.
